Losing important data from iPhone, such as contacts, text messages, emails, pictures and notes are the worst nightmare for everyone so keep your data backed up. But how to backup an iPhone? It’s very simple but a bit hard to find at first.
Each time when you connect your iPhone to computer and launch iTunes it gets synced automatically, it means that your iPhone data is in safe place. In case something bad happens to your iPhone you will be able to restore your data from iTunes.
There is another way to make sure that your iPhone is backed up and here is a simple tutorial on how to get it done:
- Plug your iPhone into your computer via USB
- Launch iTunes if it is not already open
- Select your iPhone in the “Devices” list on the left side
- Right-click on your iPhone
- Select “Back Up” from the list
- Wait for iPhone backup to be complete. It may take from few seconds to several minutes
This will create a backup of your iPhone and will store it on your computer for use during restore. iPhone backup procedure is the same in Mac and Windows and will work on any iPhone, iPad and iPod. It is a good idea to create backup before you download and install iOS updates or do a jailbreak because you never know how it will end up.
To avoid problems always make sure your iPhone has the latest software from Apple and your iPhone is regularly synced with iTunes.
Information such as contacts, mail and calendar can be backed up with iCloud but the rest of the information can be backed up only with iTunes. It is expected that iCloud will work as fully functional backup solution but for now we have to stick with iTunes.
How you ever lost your iPhone data because it was not backed up?
