Just two weeks ago Instagram announced Android version for their famous photo sharing and editing tool that was only available for iOS. Despite the limited availability it had millions of users and billions of shared photos via their service.

Today Mark Zuckerberg posted on Facebook official announcement that they have acquired Instagram. While he doesn’t include any numbers he claims that this was huge acquisition in terms of numbers of employees and how many Instagram users are there.
Mark in his announcement said that Instagram at least for now will be standalone application and Facebook plans to integrate it slovenly or even keep it as it is to not to disappoint current users. Only time will show what Facebook will do with Instagram and how well they will be able to work together.
Personally I am not huge fan of Instagram or any other photo sharing app as I am professional photograph so these Instagram effects make me laugh. But Instagram really can turn crappy pictures into something reasonable without any knowledge about picture effects.
Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t name any numbers but we are sure that numbers will be leaked sooner or later and we will get to know the acquisition price and maybe some terms. This is too huge acquisition to leave it without finding the exact numbers.
Update (1): The total consideration for Instagram is approximately $1 billion in a combination of cash and shares of Facebook.
