Value packs for the Samsung Galaxy S – Enjoy Ice Cream Sandwich Flavor

ICS for Galaxy S

Samsung has discontinued support for Galaxy S handsets and so we won’t see ICS flavor to Galaxy S but there is still one positive thing that will make your device shine again. Samsung announced Value Pack for Galaxy S. This is something new in Android space and no other smartphone maker has ever done it.

More likely the Galaxy S hardware is not powerful enough to get Android ICS as Samsung has worked very hard on this Value Pack and it basically the Android 2.3 with all the best features from Android 4.0 ICS.

Samsung Galaxy S value pack

The main features you will get from this Value pack:

  • Face Recognition (Face Unlock)
  • Taking snapshots while recording video
  • Improved folders and app launcher
  • Other small changes and tweaks

These are most commonly used ICS features and these are things that make it special and now you can have them on Android 2.3 powered smartphone.

To grab and update connect your phone to computer and launch Samsung Kies application and check for updates. The time I write this article the Value Pack is only available in South Korea but Samsung promised to release it globally once it will be ready with multilanguage support.

Hope that we will see even more Ice Cream Sandwich features on Galaxy S handset as this is great way for Samsung to show that they care about customers instead of just discontinuing support to make people to buy new smartphones each year.
