Samsung to release Windows Phone 8 (Apollo) based smartphones

Samsung Windows Phone 8 Smartphone

Samsung Taiwan today confirmed that they are working on Windows Phone 8 Apollo based handset and expected release date is scheduled to second half of 2012. Based on information we heard earlier the release date should be around October 2012.

Microsoft Windows 8 innovative, good looking and intuitive user interface has already got many positive reviews from industry experts as well as many tech companies and Windows Phone 8 is promised to be something big. It will get deeper integration with desktop OS so we can expect syncing between your desktop computer, tablet and Windows Phone by help from SkyDrive.

This isn’t the first time Samsung wants to step in Windows Phone market as they already tested market with Samsung OMNIA 7 and Omnia W but they didn’t get much attention between other Samsung’s phones like Galaxy Note, Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy S2. Samsung didn’t pay that much attention to Windows Phone line like Nokia does to Lumia series but probably everything will be changed on this fall.

Samsung’s Windows Phone is expected to arrive at the same time when Apple plans to release new iPhone so Samsung again will have hard time to sell Windows Phone OS powered smartphones unless Samsung is working on something spectacular. We still have at least few months to find it out.

The Windows Phone 8 features are yet unknown but we can be sure that Microsoft will optimize its smartphone OS to work with multiple cores and higher screen resolution as currently these are the main Windows Phone drawbacks compared to Android and iOS.

We don’t know anything about upcoming Samsung’s Windows Phone features but as Samsung is famous for their outstanding hardware performance and displays to their flagship devices so we can expect another surprise from Samsung.
